Dee Wescott, Painter -   mixed watermedia, watercolor, collage & oils

 

Dee Wescott's paintings sometimes combine realism with expressionism and abstraction.  Her paintings have been a development of over 30 years of painting, winning awards in over half of the nearly 100 national exhibitions in which she has been accepted; including 3 awards in American Watercolor Society, and 4 awards in the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, including Best of Show. 

 

Described as a "painterly painter", the images she paints sometimes reflect nature, music, figures, a fascination with a light pattern, but often simply an exciting design.  Her paintings are not imitations of anything, but more an emotional response to an idea, combined with the creative use of the materials she is working with.  She continually experiments with new forms of expression, enjoying the journey it takes her on.

 

She is a signature member of American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, along with many other art organizations.  Her work has been featured in a number of publications.  Her studio and home are on a ranch in Glencoe, NM.
