Rosella Owens, a Baytown, Texas artist, considers herself a studio painter. Working in all mediums, she paints on small canvases on location and with no limit in size in the studio. At present, Rosella is working in acrylics, retaining the feel of oils and the ease and versatility of watercolors.
Her first concern is always composition and design. The abstraction of landscapes and still lifes give her the freedom to express herself without constraint. She is a serious and gifted artist, trained in realism and abstraction, creating her own unique blend of quality paintings. The specific elements in the painting may still be identifiable, but the goal of this artist is to express the essence of her subject and her own subjective state.
Rosella has studied at the Escuela Municipal de Dibujo y Pintura in Menorca, Spain; Accademia Carrara de Belle Arti in Milan, Italy; the Museum of Fine Arts School in Goldegg, Austria; Rice University in Houston, Texas; La Romita School in Terni, Italy; Jacob Art School in Passavant France; plus many workshops with accomplished instructors in the Texas and New Mexico areas.
