Dickinson is Bobbie Kilpatrick's maiden name. She has chosen to sign her more contemporary and symbolic work with Dickinson while staying loyal to the collectors of her traditional work under the Kilpatrick signature. Her creative journey in art has evolved with innovative experiments in both subject and medium.
Inspiration for the traditional paintings developed into new works using ordinary subjects to convey a deeper meaning. By enlarging objects and relating them to human life, especially the mind, they became symbols to further an idea. Painting the landscape, still life, and figure, etc. seems to fuel her mind for experimental work while fulfilling her creative expression.
Bobbie uses the Golden Section and Dynamic Symmetry to break up space that designs the canvas in all her work. Recently she has begun to emphasize this structural element of universal order to be apparent in the finished contemporary work. Some have become more abstract as well.
