| I come to the easel with an open heart. I
choose an image which speaks to my soul. Through some memory,
feeling, experience, the passion wells up and spills into my
palette; it mixes with my paint. And the paint tells me what
to do. I listen. I act on it. Oil paint is
sensuous and I find it highly seductive. Like life. The
soul and the paint together make music which speaks to me deeply.
Dettmer lives high in the mountains of southwest Colorado. She has developed a loyal following throughout her home state and her popularity with collectors and peers is rapidly expanding
nationwide. The work is strong and personal, reflecting a unique and powerful vision. There seems to be a mystery about the work, something going on beneath the surface. The paintings speak. This is an artist to watch closely.
