As a girl, Nancy came of age exploring the Angeles National Forest on horseback. Rugged vistas, a spectrum of colors, light and shadow set an impressive stage for native wildlife. After hours outdoors, Nancy would return home and eagerly draw the terrain and animals she had seen. "Art became part of my life through the excitement of discovery, and to recreate that sensation of roaming nature's living sanctuary with my horse as sort of a spiritual guide."
She earned a BA in Art Education from the University of Colorado. Also, she holds a BFA in Graphic Design from California College of Arts and Crafts. She is an accomplished silversmith, lapidary artist and woodworker. Art, horses, and the western environment continue as her passions.
Nancy cites the work of Joaquin Sorolla, Maynard Dixon and the early California impressionists as having influenced her artistic development. Studying with wildlife artist Bob Kuhn, and landscape painters Clyde Aspevig, Skip Whitcomb, Scott Christensen, and Ann Templeton have had an important impace on her work as well.
Residing in Paso Robles, CA, Becker participates in the Cattleman's Western Art Show and Sale annually.
